Who publishes this, and why

Paying for Care STL is a field manual for one reader at one moment: the son, or the family member who handles money, who has to work out how in-home care actually gets paid for, and who can legally act, before the savings run out.

Who publishes it

OwnersFirm publishes this site. OwnersFirm is a St. Louis shop that builds these reference desks for families, and Paying for Care STL is the money-pipe edition. Nobody on staff here is a clinician, and nobody is quoted as if they were. Pages carry a desk byline instead of a named author, on purpose: a reader should not mistake this grid for a nurse, a lawyer, or a CPA.

Why it exists

Search "who pays for in home care for elderly parents" and most of what comes back is a company's blog or a forum thread that guesses at a rate. The public documents that actually answer the question, Medicare's own pages on home health and long-term care, Missouri's MO HealthNet application, the VA's Aid and Attendance page, the CFPB's guides for people who manage someone else's money, are scattered across a dozen government sites and written for nobody in particular. This desk puts them in one grid, in the order a man with a spreadsheet actually has to open them, with a link on every fact so you can check it yourself.

How it is cited

Every number, rule, form name and phone number on this site links inline to a public source: a federal or Missouri government page, or a major nonprofit such as the Administration for Community Living or the National Institute on Aging. The desk opened those pages on September 10, 2026 and checked that the wording on the source supports the wording here. The sources page is the inventory, with dates. A claim that is not on that inventory is not a claim this desk is making.

Lines this desk will not cross

• No diagnosis, no prognosis, no treatment plan, and no medical advice. Each article routes the clinical question off the page, to the care team or the physician.
• No hourly figure, and no range, for any care company. No public dataset holds one. Rate questions go to the phone.
• No knock on a hospital, a hospice, a facility, or a company, and no ranking of one against another.
• No invented statistic, no invented quote, no invented review, no invented testimonial.
• No drafted power of attorney, trust, or tax return. Capacity, gifting, spend-down and deduction questions go to an attorney and a CPA.
• No analytics tag, no pixel, no call-tracking number. The only form posts to this site's own address.

The advertising disclosure

One slot on this site is paid. New Plan Care, an independently owned non-medical in-home care company based in Chesterfield, Missouri, is a client of OwnersFirm, which publishes this site, and pays for this placement. The box is tagged as paid wherever it shows, on the hub and on the articles, and it is never a rank, a score, or a result of anything written here. The two companies are not commonly owned. The articles themselves were not paid for, and none of them was written to tilt toward the client. The one form on this site forwards a name, a phone number and a town to New Plan Care so someone can return the call. It collects no health detail, and the copy on the form says that out loud.

Corrections

Public pages change. When a figure on this desk no longer matches the URL it points to, the live source is the record, and the page is corrected on the next review. The open-date for each URL is on the sources page, so you can judge freshness yourself.
