Who publishes this, and why

Paying for Care STL is written for one reader at one moment: the son, or whoever in the family keeps the spreadsheet, who has to work out how hours of care at home actually get paid for, and who can legally act for a parent, before the savings run down.

Who publishes it

OwnersFirm publishes this site. OwnersFirm is a St. Louis firm that builds reference desks for families, and this is the money edition. Nobody on the desk is a clinician, a lawyer or a financial advisor, and nobody is quoted as if they were. Pages carry a desk byline instead of a named author on purpose, so no one mistakes a table for advice about their own family.

Why it exists

Search "who pays for in home care for elderly parents" and most of what comes back is a company blog or a forum thread guessing at a rate. The documents that actually answer the question sit on a dozen government sites: Medicare's pages on home health and long-term care, Missouri's MO HealthNet application, the state's description of the three kinds of care in the home, the VA's aide program, the federal guides to long-term care insurance. This desk puts them on one map, in the order a person paying the bills has to open them, with a link on every fact.

How it is cited

Every rule, form name and phone number links inline to a public source: a federal or Missouri government page, or a major nonprofit. The sources page is the inventory, with the date each page was opened. The method is spelled out on how we write.

Lines this desk will not cross

• No diagnosis, no treatment advice and no medical claims. Clinical questions go to the care team or the physician.
• No hourly rate or range for any company. Rate questions go to the company, in writing.
• No ranking of companies and no knock on any hospital, facility, agency or insurer.
• No drafted power of attorney, trust or tax return. Those go to an elder law attorney and a CPA.
• No analytics tag and no tracking pixel.

Who supports this site

New Plan Care Solutions is never a row in the comparison table. The front-page form sends a name, an email, an optional phone number, a contact preference and a short note to New Plan Care Solutions, which contacts people only the way they ask. It collects no health details.
